Places to buy cigars in London

There is a good variety of specialist cigar shops in central London and a few further out. The two big department stores Harrods and Selfridges also have a good selection. Most places close early evening but for those who buy on impulse there are a few options. Look for the golden medals given by Hunters & Frankau representing the best in cigar shop quality, selection and advice.

Here's all the places I've visited in London. All of them have a range of cuban and non-cuban cigars. Nearly all also provide a range of accessories such as humidors, lighters and cutters.

Cheeky Boo	The Chelsea Farmers Market 125 Sydney Street London	SW3 6NR		At the back of the market. Also sells sweets and books. A very nice outdoor Argentinean restaurant next door
Covent Garden Whisky Shop	3 Russell Street Covent Garden West End London	WC2B 5JD	Monday & Saturday 11am-6.30pm Tuesday to Friday 11am-7pm Sunday 12.30pm-4.30pm	As the name would imply this shop mainly sells whiskey. However it also does a small selection of well kept cigars.
Davidoff of London	35, St. James's St London	SW1A 1HD		On the corner of Jermyn St and St James. This shop has a large walk-in humidor. All staff can offer excellent selection advice. Sometimes sells aged cigars, also sells Cuaba smoking hats, ashtrays and a large selection of top quality humidors.
Fortnum and Mason	181 Piccadilly, London	W1A 1ER		A small humidor cabinet is located at the back of the wine and spirts section on the ground floor. Upstairs are some premium quality humidors.
Friarwood	26 New Kings Road, London	SW6 4ST		Primarily a wineshop but also a cigar specialist. Not yet visited
G Smith & Sons	74, Charing Cross Rd West End London	WC2H 0BG	Monday till Friday 9am till 6pm, Saturday 9am till 5:30pm	A helpful and friendly team run this West End cigar shop with a large walk in humidor. Linked to Shervington's at Chancery Lane.
Harrod's Cigar Room	Harrods Department Store Knightsbridge London	SW1X 7XL	Open late on Friday and Saturday and now open from Sunday from 12 till 6pm	Run by J J Fox
James J Fox and Robert Lewis	19 St. James Street London	SW1A 1ES		One of the most famous cigar shops in London. Has an in-store cigar lounge and it's own magazine. Further branches are located in Selfridges and Harrods.
Jayems	125 Victoria Street London	SW1E 5LA		A variety of cigars and accessories just around the corner from Victoria Station. Walking distance from St James Park, Buckingham Palace, Westminster and the Houses of Parliment.
Kandies	58 Leadenhall Market Whittington Avenue City London	EC3	Closed on weekends	A smaller range of cigars are available from this city based kiosk style shop.
Maxibond Cigars and Accessories	63 Fairfax Road, London	NW6 4EE		A smart shop with a walk in humidor just a few minutes from Swiss Cottage tube. Relax in comfortable leather arm chairs or retire to the downstairs bar for drinks.
News Studio Limited	21 Borough High Street London	SE1 9SE		A news agent across the road from Borough Market with a small humidor of cuban and other cigars. The fictional character Bridget Jones would have a view of this shop from her flat.
Royal mile Whiskies	3 Bloomsbury Street London	WC1B 3QE		This whisky shop sells a selection of good quality cigars, although there are three humidors only the one at the back contains any cigars. The other two are for aged whiskies.
Sautters of Mayfair	106 Mount Street Mayfair London	W1Y 5HE	Weekdays 9am till 6pm. Till 4pm on Saturday, closed on Sunday.	Just across from Connaught hotel and around the corner from Claridge's Macanudo Fumior. Stocks a range of cutters, humidors ashtrays and cases The shop is lined with old cigar related advertising models, posters and boxes. They have walk in humidor with mostly cuban cigars plus a small selection of dominican. The shop has been there since 1979 and there has been a shop on that site for over 100 years. It is rumoured that Winston Churchil used to live in the flat above the shop
Segar & Snuff Parlour	27a, The Market Covent Garden West End London	WC2E 8RD	Open weekends, closes about 7pm. Opens late when there the Open Air Opera is showing in Covent Garden	Look for the large model of a Scotish gentleman in the south side of the main market. A friendly and helpful service often accompanied by Opera singers or Classical music from the garden below. Run by Davy's Wine Merchants.
Selfridges Cigar Department	Selfridges & Co Department Store, 400 Oxford Street London	W1A 1AB	Open every day of the week and till about 7pm in the week	The walk-in humidor is located at the west end of the shop in front of the food section. Run by J J Fox
Shervington's	337 High Holborn London	WC1V 7PX	Weekdays only	An old style building right next to Chancery Lane Tube Station, has a sign outside of "Ye Olde Tobacco Shope"
J Redford and Co	33, Royal Exchange City London	EC3V 3LP		Just opposite the Bank of England. Also known as Smokers Paradise
Tom Tom	63 Elizabeth Street Belgravia/Victoria London	SW1W 9PP	Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm Saturday 10am to 5pm Sunday closed	A glamorous and contemporary cigar store. Located in the middle of Belgravia's exclusive Elizabeth Street. Five minutes from Slone Square and Victoria
Vintage House	42 Old Compton Street Soho London	W1V 6LR	Open till 10:30pm during the week and earlier at the weekends	Has a small cabinet humidor in the middle of the shop with the most popular cigars. This is complemented with a walk-in humidor is at the back of the shop. Also sells a large range of whisky, spirits and wine.

Wine and Spirit Shops

Some of the wine and spirt shops around London stock cigars but a lot of them are badly kept by in-experienced staff. Typically only smaller cigars such as the Corona and Petit Corona are stocked.

The Nicolas chain seems reasonably consistent with regards the quality of cigars they stock and are skattered around the outskirts of London.

Jeroboams the Wine Merchant have branches around Central London and their Chancery Lane branch have a small humidor and assure Aficionado that their other branches also have cigars.

Closed Shops

There are few shops that are widely reported in other directories as being still open, Aficionado has personally walked around to each of these to confirm that these shops are no longer open.
